These gorgeous Biwa Pearls have been part of my jewelry collection for many years. The necklace is 16″ long.  The clasp is a slide insert clasp with a safety figure eight.  It is easy to use. These Biwa pearls are unusually large and each measure approximately 5/8″ x 1/4″; the size varies as no two pearls are alike.  Biwa Pearls are irregular in shape and come from freshwater mussels found in Lake Biwa, Japan. Today, they are quite rare.   I have never seen a necklace like this one; it makes a lovely statement.  Consider this necklace as an important piece in your jewelry collection!!
